| General Airline Baggage Information |
**Lithium batteries such as those used in laptops, digital cameras and cell phones are not allowed in your check-in baggage, please take such items in your carry-on luggage!**
Hand luggage/Carry-on Luggage: Must be able to fit in the compartment located above your seat. No larger than (8 x 16 x 22 inches) or (20 x 40 x 55 centimeters). Weight cannot exceed 11 pounds. Liquids are not permitted in hand luggage, for those carrying cosmetics the container cannot exceed more than 100ml in volume. If liquid items, purchased at duty-free stores, have not been opened and still contain the seal, airlines will usually allow items on the plane with the receipt. Also, any liquid medications for diabetic or other patients may be allowed on the plane after safety inspection from the airline crew.
Check in Baggage: For international flights, each traveler is allowed two check-in bags that cannot exceed 44 pounds. No larger than (16 x 24 x 39 inches) or (40 x 60 x 100 centimeters). Keep in mind, when flying domestic, each traveler is only allowed ONE check in bag. If your baggage exceeds 44 pounds you may be charged an extra fee according to the weight and distance being traveled.
CDT recommends only one check in baggage and if necessary, you can purchase a bag at the last destination before your international flight to store any extra purchases. Do NOT leave any valuables such as money or jewelry in your bags as they will not be held responsible for anyone handling it! Keep all valuables on you or in a locked safe. You will also receive a yellow luggage tag that we recommend you attach to your luggage so you can identify your bags easily.
Tickets: As the world is moving toward an eco-friendly environment, paper tickets are becoming less of the norm. For all flight itineraries booked through CDT, All guests will receive an e-ticket with your record locator number in an email before your China trip. Please print this page out, having your record locator number should make checking in at the airport easier. However, even if you don't have your e-ticket copy, you can still check in with just your passport! CDT always recommends you print out your e-ticket and carry it with you for your reference.
All land transport is conducted in private, air-conditioned touring coaches. Your tour guide will accompany you during all of your travels between hotels, restaurants, attractions and events.

Definition of checked baggage
Checked baggage refers to the baggage delivered by a passenger to Air China for custody and transportation and with an ID tag attached.
Checked baggage allowance
The weight of each piece of checked baggage shall not be less than 2 kg.
The maximum weight of each piece of checked baggage shall not exceed 45kg. On all international flights, the weight of each piece of checked baggage normally shall not exceed 32kg, and the baggage weighing between 32kg and 45kg shall meet the relevant requirements of the landing airport and onward carrier.
The total linear dimensions of each piece of checked baggage shall not exceed 203cm and not be less than 60 cm. Baggage exceeding the free checked baggage allowance may be carried as checked baggage after the excess baggage charge is paid; baggage exceeding the weight or dimension limit cannot be carried as checked baggage, but cargo.
Packing of checked baggage
The checked baggage should be properly packed and secured to ensure that it is able to sustain certain pressure, and can be unloaded and transported safely under normal operational conditions. The packing of checked baggage should also meet the following requirements:
- Suitcases, travel bags and handbags shall be properly locked to avoid theft.
- Two or more luggage bags shall not be packed into one piece of baggage.
- Extra items shall not be packed in the checked luggage bag.
- The baggage shall not be wrapped by a bamboo crate, mesh bag, rope, straw bag or plastic bag.
- The name, address and telephone number of the passenger shall be labeled inside and outside of the luggage bag.
Items prohibited from carriage as or in checked baggage
Items which are reasonably considered by us to be unsuitable for carriage because they are dangerous, unsafe, or by reason of their weight, size, shape or character, or which are fragile or perishable having regard to, among other things, the type of aircraft being used and lithium battery.
Items not suggested from carriage as or in checked baggage
Cash, checks, jewelry, precious metals and derived products, curios, paintings and calligraphic works, computers, personal electronic devices, samples, or other valuables, important documents, identification documents and prescribed medicine to be taken regularly.
Carry-on Baggage
Carry-on baggage refers to smaller items passengers are allowed to carry into the cabin of the aircraft. All carry-on baggage must fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin.
On domestic flights, First Class passengers may carry on two small bags or other personal items, each weighing no more than 5 kg. Business Class and Economy Class passengers may carry on one small bag or other personal item, weighing no more than 5 kg.
On international or regional flights, First Class and Business Class passengers may carry on two small bags or other personal items, each weighing no more than 8 kg. Economy Class passengers may carry on one small bag or other personal item weighing no more than 5 kg.
Each piece of carry-on luggage shall not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55 cm (long) x 40 cm (wide) x 20 cm (high). Any item that exceeds the size or weight limits or the number of items allowed per passenger will be required to travel as checked baggage.

Checked baggage allowance
China Southern Airlines makes use of the "pieces" concept for our luggage regulations, in which each passenger can take X piece(s) of luggage on board, depending on the booked class, and with a maximum weight of 23kg. The number of luggage pieces allowed is always listed on the ticket.
The standard luggage maximum weight allowance is 23kg (50 lbs) per piece and 32 kg (70 lbs) per piece for First Class. The maximum measurements allowed size is 158 cm (62 inches) in total (sum of the three dimensions). Infants without a seat, under the age of two, have a standard luggage allowance of 1 piece of 10kg (22 lbs), with a maximum size of 115 cm (45 inches) in total (sum of the three dimensions). Free transport of a foldable stroller or baby-car, without any extra luggage inside, is allowed. The luggage allowance for each booked ticket can vary per booking class, fare or flight. The kilo's/pieces visible on a ticket is the amount which will be valid.
Luggage allowance on domestic or other international CZ flights
Luggage allowance on domestic or other international (add-on) flights applies: The luggage allowance for each booked ticket can vary, since this might vary per booking class, fare or whether or not it concerns a code-share flight with another operating carrier. It is also possible that on other routings the "kilogram concept" applies instead of the "pieces concept"; for this other regulations, measurements, cabin luggage and costs for excess luggage can apply. Contact your China Southern booking office or booking agent for more information in case desired. The amount of kilo's or pieces visible on your ticket is the amount which will be valid.
For excess luggage on China domestic flights the charge in general will be 1.5% of the applicable one-way Economy class ticket on the day of billing per 1kg, calculated in the RMB currency and will be rounded up.

Checked baggage allowance
The weight of any single piece of checked baggage should not be over 32kg (70lb). Acceptance of any bag weighing more than 32kg (70lb) is subject to prior approval and notification upon booking/ reservation. Overweight items (Exception: mobility aids, medical equipment, sporting equipment, musical instruments, camera equipment, household effects, pets as baggage and diplomatic baggage) will be repacked or split into lighter units during check-in otherwise will not be accepted for carriage.
